A maximum of 15 Tankas per submission a Year
Submissions Accepted Year Around.
In its strictest form, tanka follows an unmetered scheme of a single line of 31 syllables, broken into segments of 5-7-5-7-7. Although this is a legitimate form when Westernized, it has been noted that in the Japanese language, a syllable is typically shorter. Yes, you heard right. Think "the" as opposed to "these". As a result, an acceptable Western version of tanka may have fewer syllables as a whole, to achieve the proper brevity and simplicity the form asks.
